Local Attractions
Eating Out:
- The Crofters restaurant in the Harris Hotel in Tarbert.
- First Fruit tea-room, also in Tarbert, does very good home-made cakes and
light lunches.
- The upmarket Scarista House, using local produce and seafood.
Don't Miss:
- Great walk from Tarbert to Rhenigidale. You can even let the taxibus carry
your luggage. (Twice a day, phone to book. More details at the Tourist
Information Centre in Tarbert, or in the Lewis & Harris bus timetable)
- Walk the dramatic hills of North Harris
- Visit the rocky moonscape of South Harris
- Drive round the Golden Road
- The west coast has some of the finest golden sandy beaches you'll ever
see:
the strands of Traigh Losgaintir or Northton (Taobh Tuath)
- St Clement's Church at Rodel- the burial place of the MacLeods of Harris
and Dunvegan in Skye, with interesting gravestones & rather strange
carvings.
